AMD 2 - Twain essay

Ich read Mark Twain's essay "The Awful German Language". Aside from being really funny (Ich liebe really lame language puns), die essay offered some insight into the pitfalls ich will encounter as ich continue studying Deutsche. Whether or not the subject was wie one declines "der Regen" or how one deciphers der gender of a noun, Deutsche seems sein rife with more exceptions than rules. Exciting.

Although many languages arbitrarily gender words und arduously decline nouns (Latin is a clear culprit of both), there seinen some features of German that seemed to be particularly peculiar (but nonetheless somewhat interesting). Ich am intrigued by the possibility of creating excessively long words (for example, "'Generalstaatsverordnetenversammlungen' seems to be 'General-statesrepresentativesmeetings'"). Although es will be difficult to decipher many of these words, ich think that die possibility of creating new words could create a very rich literary tradition, und reading Deutsche literature und philosophy promises sein very interesting. 


In addition, splitting verbs into zwei words at opposite ends of the sentence auch seems sein ein unique practice (Latin has something relatively similar, but es doesn't split the words themselves, but rather participles that are already different words). Ich am excited to be able to read sentences that heighten suspense by splitting the main verb into zwei halves.
